Hello Pastor [insert name here],
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing about the upcoming sale of the Lakeside Christian Camp & Retreat Center property. I have been personally impacted by God’s work through the Lakeside ministry and am prayerful that the property will be sold to an organization that will continue to use it for Christian ministry. As you may know, the Converge Northeast District Trustees are currently accepting bids for the property.
The great news is that David and Barbara Green and their family have generously agreed to make a significant offer to purchase Lakeside Christian Camp & Retreat Center, to continue God’s ministry there to youth, families, and churches in the Northeast. Mr. & Mrs. Green are the founders of Hobby Lobby, the largest privately owned arts-and-crafts retailer in the world. The Green family has a history of purchasing real estate to further kingdom-building work. This means that Lakeside can resume its ministry work to children, families, and churches. I would love to see this happen for the Lakeside property.
For over 40 years, Lakeside has proclaimed and advanced the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a place where God has transformed the lives of thousands of children, adults, and families.
During 2018 and 2019 alone, over 900 people committed their lives to Christ and 148 were baptized. In 2019, a record 5,400 people attended camps and church retreats at Lakeside. God’s work at Lakeside has been thriving both spiritually and financially.
Lakeside is financially stable. During the past 10 years, Lakeside has become operationally self-sufficient through the stewardship of resources by a Lakeside board with significant professional and ministerial expertise. Further oversight includes 10 years of independent CPA audits, and recently accreditation by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
But your help is needed, Pastor. Would you please contact the Converge Northeast District Trustees this week and encourage them to accept the Hobby Lobby bid to continue Lakeside as a Christian ministry? I see this as a win-win for both Lakeside’s mission to continue and for the mission of Converge to be advanced through the significant proceeds from the sale of the property to Hobby Lobby.
